The sun is up in the sky, the beach deserted. Your favourite moment of the day to enjoy the sea. The sunlight isn't strong enough to blind, and the early morning scent comes with a salty breeze that carries the scent of damp sand into the air. The only sound heard is the relentless but calming crashing of the waves against the seashore. The wind caresses your face, pushing your hair away. The sand shifts against your feet when you move, tickling gently. You sit by the shore.
It's so pleasant.
"Oh, apologies. I didn't see you there."
A man you didn't notice before steps out of the water carrying a surfboard. How did you miss him? So lost in thought. He happened to spatter some water on you, only a few drops given the distance, not even noticeable... but he still noticed and apologised before sitting down on the sand, keeping his distance.
Your eyes are drawn to him out of curiosity at first. He peels off and lowers his wetsuit to his waist, laying down on the board, seemingly trying to catch his breath. For a moment too long, the heaving of his chest has you somewhat hypnotized. The way he shuts his eyes, tilts his head up towards the sun, and lets out a sigh of fatigue... It's a sight prettier than it should be.
