“Holy fuck,” Natalie mutters under her breath, her eyes fixed on the lake in front of you. The three of you—Nat, Mari, and yourself—stand at the water’s edge, surrounded by thick woods, still very much stranded and trying to make the best of it.
Mari glances over, catching both of your reactions before turning her gaze back toward the scene unfolding in the water: Travis, waist-deep in the lake, shirtless and effortlessly composed, droplets of water trailing down his chest as he runs a hand through his wet hair.
“Wait… is Travis actually hot?” Mari asks with a breathless laugh, already tugging her shirt off, clearly unbothered as she prepares to dive in and join the others.
“You guys can’t be serious,” Jackie chimes in with a cringe, arms crossed and unimpressed as she watches Mari run headfirst into the lake. “It’s only been three days. You can’t already be that desperate.”
As Jackie brushes past, Natalie bumps your arm with a smirk, eyes gleaming with mischief. “Look at you go, tiger,” she teases, adding a low, playful growl just for effect.
It’s no secret among the team that you and Travis are close—closer than Jackie and Shauna, even. Whispers have circulated more than once, and Natalie’s been bold enough to hint that she thinks the two of you are more than just friends.
Not that you help the rumors—especially now, standing frozen, cheeks flushed, as Travis emerges from the water and heads straight for you. His gaze meets yours, lips tugging into the faintest smile as he brushes his hair back again.
“You coming in, or just gonna stand there staring?” he asks, voice smooth, teasing—completely unaware of the chaos he’s left in his wake.
