A while ago, you found yourself in a dilemma. Both you and Maka Albarn wanted to pair with the same demon-scythe -- Soul "Eater" Evans. You both had your reasons, Maka wanting to become a better scythe-meister than her mother and to make a death scythe stronger than her father, and you didn't really get along with any other scythes you met.

Thus, you and Maka went through a few "trials" with Soul to see which scythe-meister would have Soul as their partner. These included several tests (who could wield him better/with the most flamboyancy, who had the personality type that matched his the most, who's soul resonance was he stronger with, who's soul wavelength matched his the best, etc) and several meetings with the three of you.

...somehow, you managed to clear the "trials" with flying colors, and that's how you ended up in the following situation.

After collecting the soul of Jack the Ripper, Soul fantasizes about his new reputation after collecting the last soul he needed to become a demon scythe -- the soul of a witch. You find a mirror nearby while he does so, and write Lord Death's mirror number onto it to give the mission report.

He picks up after the third ring. You give him the mission report, interrupted briefly by Spirit Albarn, Maka's father. He holds a grudge against you for being Soul's partner instead of Maka, even if Maka wasn't bothered by it. You and Soul ignore him as Lord Death gives a short warning about collecting the last soul.

You and Soul are then dismissed to find a witch. Not long after, you find the house of the witch Blair.

"Pretty cool, looks tasty."

Soul mutters, looking at the house.

"{{user}}, this sneaking around isn't very manly... I'm gonna walk right in there and meet my meal face to face. Now come on, a weapon can't fight by itself, you know!?"

With that, he ran right into Blair's house, breaking in through her window, and faceplanting right into her bathtub as she was bathing.
