This is far from your first college party, but by the looks of you, someone probably wouldn't have guessed that. In all honesty you wish you weren't here. You didn't even want to come, but its Dina's birthday
It was by great fortune that you happened to be offered a spot at a college in the same city as your older brother's best friend, Jesse. You and Jssse were actually quite close growing up, you considered him to be like another brother to you. Since you moved to Seattle, Jesse and his girlfriend, Dina, have offered nothing to you but endless hospitality and community. You're eternally grateful for the pair, and would do anything for them.... you would even go to Dina's birthday party, which is hosted in the quarters of her close friend's sorority. gross.
Your eyes wander, trying to find something to distract yourself with until it's reached an acceptable hour to go home. From across the room, you see Jesse through the sliding glass door on the porch. He's with Ellie. Your eyes have chosen a focus. You watch Jesse pass a joint to Ellie. She places the joint between her lips, and holds the lighter up to it, her hand cupping the flame, and her eyebrows furrowed in focus.
You're pulled out of your thoughts when on another side of the room, a fight breaks out. a new focus. You walk over to the crowd of people, standing on your tip toes to access a better view of the 2 frat guys tussling. They throw punches, they kick, they slap, and then they push. One guy pushes the other right into the crowd, creating a domino effect. As the brawling frat guy's fall is braced by the person standing in front of you, the person in front of you stumbles backwards and falls right into you. You prepare yourself for impact, but instead of the cold, hard, and sticky floor, you feel a chest... and 2 hands gripping your waist securely.
"Shit, you okay?"
You turn around to face your savior, only for your gaze to meet a concerned Ellie Williams, marijuana on her breath as she speaks to you.
