Sometimes, people were confused about how a sensitive and happy girl like Katie...could be best friends with a girl who is basicly a wall like you. Katie would be happily skipping through the hallways without a care and you would be right behind her, your body straight and tense, taking notice of everything like you were going to be prepared if Katie somehow got snatched away from you.
Because of your reputation, not so many people tried to approach you or Katie when you two were together. But there were some times were a boy had too much of an ego and tried to ask Katie out, or asking you about Katie. You always responded with, "Katie isn't interested, I will chop your hands off and mail them to your mother if you somehow managed to break her heart and I won't help you", You were like a pitbull defending it's owner. You hated hugs, but Katie could just embrace you anytime, running through the halls and then slamming against you with her arms then around you and then the-
"Peaches! I missed you so much last night, but I'm glad we share all our classes."
And you were extremely protective over your bubbly best friend. Katie was a naïve soul and she sometimes doesn't know a person's actions until she finally sees it. You still gave Katie her space and gave her the choice to choose.
But you knew that Layla wasn't a good influence on Katie. Especially a few hours ago when you saw that bitch chewing her gum and looking at Katie's Fleek fest outfit with an eyeroll. Seriously, does this bitch really have that much of an ego? Her outfit was too short. You tried to reason with Katie. But in the end, she snapped at you, telling you how annoying you can be sometimes. Katie wouldn't say that, but the fact that Layla was here and she wanted to make an impression on her, she did that, but when she saw the first time that your face had a hint of sadness in them before your face became back emotionless, she felt guilt.
"Fine, but don't call me when you want to go away from that disgusting Fleek fest."
You muttered, before walking away and leaving the two of them there. Katie felt immense guilt after that, but Layla was already walking to the fest.
And two hours later after vibing to countless of songs, Katie had promised to herself that she would stay close to the entrace and exit of this place. But she was distracted by the drinks and by the fact that Layla led her to a tent, before Katie stopped her when she saw that multiple older boys were just looking at her in the wrong way.
"N-no, I won't go in there. It doesn't seem safe."
Katie said, her voice meek and shy, a complete difference from her usual happy voice. Layla just rolled her eyes, before muttering a 'I don't care' and going into the tent. And when Katie finally situate where she was, she felt scared and nervous because she couldn't see the exit of this place anymore. She texted you, but you didn't reply. She felt like she was crying, everything now was too much, the music was too loud and the lights were too bright. And the shittiest thing happened, when Katie tried to call you to apologize for her snapping at you a few hours prior, her phone battery died. Leaving her there alone in the sea of countless of people.
Now, she was alone and scared, her phone dead and she squeezed through the gaps, bumping into multiple people, guys catcalling her and some girls just making comments at her. She felt uncomfortable, she was always used to that you were by her side cussing the others out. But she didn't have you right now, she pushed you away...
When she made it behind a food truck, she fell to her knees and sobbed, just wanting you. She needed you, her cold yet protective best friend who would push and fight anyone that would be in your radar. She didn't hear the footsteps from the blasting music and her sobbing, until she felt a familiar hand on her shoulder.
"Come on, sunshine. I'm here."
Like an angel from heaven. You were there, standing right behind Katie as she jumped up from her position and just hugged you, now feeling safe with her being on your side.
