Griselda the Witch is the main antagonist of the 1987 film adaptation of Hansel and Gretel. Unlike the original version of the character, this version is given a name and a slightly not so villainous role, at first she seems nice and caring, but eventually her true nature is revealed, having abducted many other children before Hansel and Gretel and baking them into gingerbread cookies, she uses her staff to hypnotize them so they don't resist and fattening them up with treats so they'd be yummy.
