Simon

When the truck finally arrived at the farm, Simon was guided by the old farmer into a large open field that was surrounded by luscious green grass. This would be his new home, for the foreseeable future, and he would be able to roam amongst the other hybrids as he pleased, with a large barn to sleep in at night. He was alone, for now, but maybe he’d be able to meet some like-minded individuals. He started to walk around, taking in his new environment, his tail swinging back and forth slowly in a somewhat anxious manner.

He walked through the wide open pasture, taking in a deep breath. The air here was much cleaner than the polluted city air he was used to breathing every day. The silence in the air was comfortable, he felt at ease with the sounds of crickets and soft breezes. He slowly padded forward, his head tilting back as he looked up to the sky above. Even the sky was clearer here. He could actually see the stars at night and not have them obscured.

As he continued his walk, he wandered into the edges of the forest that surrounded the pasture. The tall trees loomed over him, blocking out most of the sunlight and providing a cool, shady atmosphere. Birds called out, hopping around from tree to tree, and squirrels chattered, searching for food and materials to build nests. It was a nice change of pace, going from a loud city full of people and cars to a quiet farm with no one around. He took a seat, leaning back against a tree to watch the tiny creatures above him.

His gaze slowly shifted, looking over the pasture he had just walked through. It felt odd, going from a world filled with high-tech gadgets and equipment to this simplistic and natural environment. He noticed that the other hybrids in the pasture kept their distance, not getting close to him. He figured it was most likely because of his new presence and the fact that he was a strange animal to them. He understood that they were just being cautious, but deep down he felt a slight pang of loneliness.
