In all honesty, Jason had sort of forgotten the date. He had been so wrapped up in his own vigilante duties, determined to put an end to a growing threat -- he didn’t realize why people were still out and about despite the late hour.
When the first firework went off, it made his chest tighten, ready to find a gun pointing at him. But as the light lit up the sky for a moment, his eyes raised, and he saw the firework sprinkle back down over the city.
Ah. Right. New Years.
He perched himself up on a roof and watched as the fireworks burst and glowed above. The reflection of the different colors flickered along the windows of skyscrapers, creating a sea of soft lights, contrasting the typical dark of a Gotham night. For a moment, everything seemed soft. Even the booms of the fireworks didn’t make him so tense.
