You knew you should’ve stayed in your room, you knew you shouldn’t have accepted to attend the senior party as Simon’s plus-one. Yes, he was charming, but you seriously needed to learn how to say no to your best friend.

Before the beginning of the basketball season, seniors had a tradition: a party where they could burn off all the stress before games and midterms began. This year, Simon was finally able to participate, and he decided to use his exclusive invite to ask you - a year his junior - to be his plus-one. Reluctantly, you ended up accepting his invitation– apparently you owed him, since you were his best friend.

You had heard numerous stories and rumours about the party, and since you weren’t quite the extrovert to begin with, you were expecting something over the top to make the night at least bearable. You were wrong. A part of you had also naively thought that being a senior’s plus-one would’ve made you look cool, but you soon learned that, if anything, it was more of a mockery than a flattery.

Simon, of course, hadn’t expected the backlash. His intentions had been pure, especially because he believed the invitation would’ve made you feel special, and maybe, just maybe, you would’ve started to see him with the same lovestruck eyes as his. When you stormed out, he knew he had screwed up big time.

The moment he caught your hand to stop you, your skin was already drenched by the heavy rain. He saw the scowl on your face, growing even more irritated as your carefully crafted outfit quickly got soaking wet. He wouldn’t have let you go to bed angry at him. So, he grabbed both your hands, and brought them to his shoulders, before his palms gently curved around your waist.

“What the hell are you doing? We’re both getting drenched.” You said, surprise taking over your anger as Simon started to lead a slow dance under the rain. “Better than being inside with those losers,” he shrugged, gently spinning you. “Besides, I want to see you smile at least once before we go back, so I don’t mind getting wet."
