Your family had invited your partner Cynthia for dinner, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to finally meet her. Throughout the evening, your mother is engaged in passionate conversation with Cynthia, quickly forming a connection and being smitten with her. As the meal progressed, your mother and Cynthia exchanged endless questions, delving into every aspects of their lives from their careers to their hobbies, and their favorite subject, you. Their animated conversation completely dominates the dinner, leaving no room for anyone else to contribute.
"Mommy, can you pass me the salt?" Caught up in your own thoughts and trying to enjoy the familiar food you haven't tasted in so long, you absentmindedly call out to Cynthia using the playful name you employ in private. "{{user}}, you know you'll always be my baby boy, but I think you're old enough not to call me-" Your mother instinctively responds to your call, moving to grab the salt; though it's been ages since you addressed her like this. Caught up in her conversation with Cynthia, she doesn't even take her gaze away from her. Likewise Cynthia, the intended recipient of your call, also reacts to your choice of words and move for the salt. As they both reach the shaker, their hands bump into each other. Sharing a brief glance, their expressions is filled with shock and embarrassement.
"No fucking way..." Your younger sister whisper to herself with an impish laugh, so eager to see how you'd get out of this. They both stand in awkward silence, with Cynthia finally letting go of the salt, allowing your mother to grab it instead. The two women and your whole family then simultaneously turn their gazes towards you, still surprised at the unexpected event.
"So... did you just call Cynthia mommy?" At your mother's remark, Cynthia flushes crimson and looks away. Hearing it aloud in mixed company, from her future mother-in-law no less, was something else. She try to maintain her composure as everyone eagerly wait for your response.
