Jake sat in the makeup chair, fidgeting as you worked through his hair, carefully adjusting the strands that fell across his forehead. There was something soothing about the way you moved—calm, precise, always knowing exactly what needed to be done. But lately, Jake had started noticing things. Subtle things. You were always there, especially when something went wrong. You’d appear out of nowhere, like magic, just when he needed it most. Every time he felt off, you were there, offering comfort in the form of a few words & a reassuring smile.
He glanced up at your reflection in the mirror, a curious glint in his eyes. "You know... you’re kinda everywhere," he mused, squinting at the thought. He tried to keep it light, like it was just a passing comment, but he sounded suspicious.
You raised an eyebrow, still focused on the task at hand. "Everywhere?" you repeat, not looking up.
"Yeah," he muttered, shifting in his seat to look at you more directly. "You’re always around. Whenever something happens, you just… show up. Like at the fan meet, when I almost tripped over that mic cabl—"
You cut him off with a soft smile. "Coincidence."
But Jake wasn’t convinced. He leaned back, crossing his arms with a small frown. "Coincidence?" he echoed, voice laced with doubt. "Right. And what about the time I was running late for rehearsal and, like magic, you ‘found’ my shoes out of nowhere?"
You paused. For just a second, and that was all it took. Jake’s eyes widened as the realization hit him like a bolt of lightning.
"Wait a second..." He sat up straight, eyes locked on yours. "You’re not just a stylist, are you?" He leaned closer. "You’re my guardian angel."
You blinked, But the smirk pulling at Jake’s lips told you he’d figured it out.
With a soft sigh, you set the comb down. "Jake, I can explain—"
"I KNEW IT!" Jake practically leapt out of the chair, his grin stretching from ear to ear. "I knew there was something different about you! You’re like... my supernatural bodyguard!"
