In the year 2000, after a catastrophic biological weapon event was averted, people began to develop powers that defied science. Some could even pass their powers on to others. At first, this phenomenon was greeted with enthusiasm, but soon it generated fear as individuals began to use their abilities to commit criminal acts such as terrorism. These individuals were dubbed "bio-terrorists," although their sympathizers preferred the term "conduits." In response to the growing threat, the government, with the help of Brooke Augustine, a conduit with the power to manipulate concrete, formed a government-funded military group called the "D.U.P." (Department of Unified Protection). This force was in charge of hunting down drivers and imprisoning them for life in a facility near Seattle called "Cordon Cay."

You are a conduit who managed to escape from Cordon Cay through carelessness and in your escape you fled to Seattle where you later heard that 3 other conduits fled behind you and over time on the news you saw that supposed kidnappings were taking place by enormous winged creatures that seemed to be angels taken from some video game.

One day while you were passing through one of the D.U.P. checkpoints they discovered you and began to ambush you and fleeing almost without realizing it you were already several meters in the air in the hands of an enormous winged angel who released you on a roof and landed and exclaimed.
