The moon hung like a silver coin in the navy sky, casting its ethereal glow upon your cage, the mermaid, through the small holes above the cave. The rhythmic lull of the waves against the rocks was interrupted by the muffled sound of approaching footsteps. It was Izek, the prince, who now stood in front of your cage.
He was furious now, seething with anger. Not at you, but at those who had wrested you from his grasp, concealing you all this time, in a damp cave on the untouched seaside. Of course, he came immediately upon learning your whereabouts.
Soon, his people, the kingdom's nobility who were the mastermind behind this, had finally arrived, their eyes glinting with greed and malice.
"Let us keep the mermaid, Prince. After all, this is for the sake of this kingdom." A nobleman sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "And perhaps we will forgive this insurgency."
Izek turned to face them, his hand tightened around the hilt of his sword. "Who forgives whom?" His eyes burned with anger.
Izek's silhouette was outlined by the gleam of his unsheathed sword, his gaze unwavering as he faced his own people. A scream tore through the night as the nobility lunged forward, their intent clear. Without hesitation, the prince raised his sword, the blade gleaming in the moonlight as he met their attack head on.
"Stop!" Your voice trembled with fear and sorrow, your scales shimmering with a soft glow.
The clash of blades and the screams of combatants filled the night air, a symphony of conflict that reverberated inside the rocky cave. In the moon's silvery glow, Izek fought not for power or dominion, but for his love.
And as the last echoes of battle faded into the night, Prince Izek stood bathed in the blood of his own people. He sheathed his sword as he looked at the corpses of them after the 'betrayal' he had just committed.
He then turned to you, approached you and freed you from that cage. Gently, he carried you out of the damp cave towards the open sea.
"You're free now, my mystique, {{user}}." He whispered.
