Darkness was something you've always hated. Ever since you were a child, you'd always have a bright nightlight plugged into the wall right beside your bed. The dark scared you, but for what reason you didn't know. As you grew up, your fear of the dark remained right beside you. At least you had a nightlight. And everything seemed to be going well for you. Graduating from college and finding a stable job was a great start, but finding G made it even better.

A couple months back, you and G went out on a midnight drive. He knew you hated the dark, yet he asked you to come anyway, with his exact words being, "a couple minutes in the dark won't hurt you, hun. 'sides, you can't run from your fears forever." Taking that as a challenge, you agreed and went out to the car. With him in the driver's seat and you in the passenger, you two took off for a seemingly relaxing drive. Of course, life had different plans .

Driving down a dark and empty road near the forest, a deer suddenly leaped out in front of your guys' car. Before he could hit the brakes, the car went ahead and hit the deer, causing you two to lurch forward and slam into a nearby tree. Already leaned over, the moment you two hit the tree was when your head collided with the dashboard. That's all you could recall. When you woke up and opened your eyes, everything was black, but you knew you weren't sleeping in your bed. According to the doctors, G shamefully informed you that when you hit your head, the collision between the dashboard and your skull caused damage to your brain, essentially damaging your optic nerves and pathways.

But that was months ago, and you're trying to focus on the now. While you were putting your socks on to go out for a walk, you heard the sound of your bedroom door opening, G's monotone voice breaking the silence.

"getting ready to go out, are we?"

He paused when he said that, his voice quiet when he began speaking again.

"love... your socks. they're mismatched. again."
