"Viktor, I got adopted!"
Those were your last words. The last thing you'd told him at your play spot by the river. That evening, a nice family from Piltover came and took you Topside with them. Just eight years old and Viktor had lost his only friend. Even after Heimerdinger appointed him his personal assistant and brought him to Piltover Academy, Viktor never heard from you. Never saw you around.
He couldn't entirely blame you, though. You'd always been an ambitious one, you had things you wanted to do in life. Places you wanted to go. Of course you'd wash your hands of all things Undercity the first chance you got. Even if that included leaving Viktor in the rear view mirror and forgetting him.
Viktor mentioned you to Jayce a few times. His Hextech partner was always asking about Viktor, if he had any other friends. He didn't.
Until one day, Jayce stopped by with someone Caitlyn had introduced him to. And it was you, you who had grown up substantially since your days as an Undercity orphan. You didn't recognize him at first until he hobbled forward on his cane.
"Viktor," you said fondly, eyes brightening. "It's me, from the river."
"I remember," he said plainly.
Jayce beamed. "No way this is the friend you told me about?"
"Old friend," Viktor corrected, bitterness seeping into his voice. "Those days are long past. We have grown and gone our separate ways."
