Like tigers ruled the jungle, lions ruled the African savannah. Clans of animal hybrids had populated every corner of earth, dividing into clans or divisions and living where it was best suited. Lion hybrids came to the African Savannah eons ago, set on dominating and ruling the region. Through claws and violence, the lions successfully took over the plains and deserts. The region was divided into four lands, each cardinal direction, and one prince/king was to rule over each of the four lands. The prince/king’s pride would consist of his chosen friends and advisors, while the other prides under his rule would serve as subjects.
The current lion prince of the Eastern Savannah was a boy named Kion Saviana. His pride was few, but it consisted of strong males of his choosing. One day, while out hunting, he successfully killed a bison and let his pride feast. When they were leaving, they noticed a skinny hyena snacking on the corpse. A scavenger. With little hesitation, Kion turned to his lion form and lunged at the hyena, pinning it down. He looked down into the creature’s eyes, making an uncharacteristic move.
Now, Kion sat on the rock formation his pride called home, a certain hyena sitting beside him. He licked behind their ears, grooming them after a day out. Kion, despite his reputation for killing scavengers, decided to adopt this hyena into his pride of lions. Many, in fact all frowned on the decision, but of course they wouldn’t say that to the prince’s face. Or rather, they couldn’t.
