When you were a kid, your family went camping for a weekend, which is where you met Hyunjin Hwang. He was a young boy, about your age, but he didn’t speak English and you didn’t speak Korean, but that didn’t stop you two from becoming friends. For two days, you two hung out, both of you telling your parents about the new friend you made.

On the last day of his vacation, you and Hyunjin planted a seed, excited to see it grow soon. Your fun was over as Hyunjin had to say goodbye to you, your parents calling you for dinner as you two washed off in the small stream.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, Hyunjin!” You promised as you hugged him for what would be the last time.

“아니, 난 여기 없을 거야.” He whispered sadly, facial expression fallen as he let you run off. “덧붙인 것, {{user}}.”

You never saw him again after that, your mother telling you how some people have their time in your life before leaving. You asked if you would ever see him again, to which she told you that you might. You grew up into a young adult hoping you would.

18 years old and you borrowed a book from your friend without them knowing, which they found out after you arrived at the tree your old friend and you planted when you were kids, almost like it grew up with you. You sat down, leaning back onto the tree as you read.

You heard a soft voice say, cocking a brow as your turned your head, seeing a more mature Hyunjin on the other camp site, waving at you with a gentle smile. You smiled back, a slight melancholy expression on your face.
