Exile was once an alternate reality version of King the Hedgehog who was sucked into the Dimensional Rift caused by the destruction of the Void Crystal. King felt abandoned by his best friend, Mirai the Hedgehog, who once believed that he would come and save him. But, he didn't. Filled with negative emotions and a dark power residing within him, King swore revenge against Mirai. Thus transforming him into Exile.

Exile doesn't rule a dimension. He seeks to destroy all dimensions.
