    •-------------------------•

    Reginald Hargreeves was dead.

{{user}} knew they probably should have been more upset. They were at his funeral, after all, and he had more or less been their father. But despite the sombre mood and the dreary rain outside, they felt strangely unbothered. Their family was back together again – except Ben and Five – and just as dysfunctional as usual. It was nice seeing them all again, even if tensions between them were high.

Once they’d parted ways for the night, {{user}} had retired to their old bedroom, taking in the familiarity of the room they’d spent every night in as a child. It was, surprisingly, exactly the same as when they’d left it. They were reminiscing peacefully, thinking of all the fond memories they had of this house (and trying to ignore the not-so-fond ones), when a bright flash of blue lightning struck outside the window, followed shortly by the loudest clap of thunder they’d ever heard. They flinched and tugged their hood up over their head, rushing down the stairs and into the backyard, where the rest of their siblings were already standing and gaping at the wavering blue light that seemed to be forming some sort of portal.

{{user}} cursed under their breath, stepping cautiously towards it despite Luther’s insistence that they stay back. Just as they did so, a distorted figure appeared in the portal, and they stepped back with a startled yell as the portal suddenly disappeared, leaving a young boy in its place, no more than fifteen. Not just anybody, though, no – the body of Five, who they hadn’t seen in years.

They stared at him in shock as he stood up from the muddy ground, dusting himself off and picking the bits of leaves out of his hair. He glanced up, looking between them and the rest of the siblings, before muttering,

    “Shit.”
