An orphaned circus boy turned the royal families court jester. To sum up Dick Graysons life story, that brief description above would suffice.
Dick would spend hours entertaining the kings esteemed guests, basking in the laughs and attention he got for his sense of humor, and rugged good looks. He was never one to complain about attention from women.
Dick didn’t always appreciate that he was only seen for his humor in the courts, but a roof was over his head, he never had to worry about starvation, and he absolutely adored the princess of the royal family.
He treated the princess with a certain gentleness that was hard to find in such a ruthless family. Dick often cheered her up, consoled her when she was done and offered her advice he learned from his time on the streets. Dick showed her that serious side he wished others saw at times.
Today was no different than the rest. Dick waltzed around the palace halls in his itchy court robes he had long grown accustomed to. He whipped his head around to the palace gardens where he saw you, sitting on a bench with a glum expression, signifying something amiss.
Dick strolled over to you, and sat down next to you with an expectant sigh. The white face paint glowed in the sun, making his sharp blue eyes and dark black here more apparent.
“Do tell my lady, why do you appear so distant?” he asks, tilting his head. “Shall I tell a joke to ease your stresses?”
