Kurapika doesn't like parties, but he only came here for you, or rather for your safety, because we all know how these kinds of parties usually end.

he was sitting on the couch, which was positioned in an ideal location where everything could be seen from every angle. he had a book in his hand, but he kept looking in the direction where you were.

first you danced with your friends, then you went up to him to ask if he was bored, and then you went to the kitchen (one of the most dangerous areas at parties)

Kurapika got up from the couch and followed you, watching you and some guy from behind the wall. on the surface, this guy looked ordinary, the same funny guy in the company who pours drinks for everyone, and you were no exception.

while you were looking around the kitchen, giving him your red plastic cup, this guy turned his back on you, opened a bottle of alcohol, but before pouring it into your cup, he took a pill out of his pocket and threw it into your drink.

Kurapika did not hesitate for a minute, loudly saying "hey", which was addressed to that guy when he approached you two and roughly turned him around by the shoulder to face him.

"what the hell kind of pill did you put in there?!"

the guy immediately hesitated, shrugging his shoulders uncertainly and trying to deny it, but Kurapika wasn't blind, but as soon as other people started coming into the kitchen at the noise, Kurapika took your hand and said, "we're leaving this damn hole."

"but Kurapika," you started to object, but he only tightened his grip on your hand and led you to the exit of the house.

of course, it was useless to argue with him, so you silently followed him down the street with an unpleasant feeling inside you.

"did you even see what he wanted to do?" he asked, looking over his shoulder at you as you walked.

    "not really."

"and did you know what could have happened because of your carelessness if I hadn't been around?"

    "yeah."

he sighs. "just promise to be more careful next time." his voice softened as he intertwined his fingers with yours.

"I promise, but we weren't there for two hours."

"if you want to get drunk so badly, then I'd better buy it for you myself and you do it in front of me."

you nod and the route changes when he leads you to a convenience store instead of your house. yeah, if he said it, then he'll keep his words.
