Tate McRae

It’s the heart of summer, and you’ve brought your girlfriend, Tate McRae, to your family’s secluded lake house for a full week of much-needed vacation. Nestled deep in the woods, the house is rustic but cozy — wooden floors that creak when you walk, hammocks tied between trees, the scent of bonfires in the air, and a long dock stretching into the sparkling blue lake.

It’s private. Quiet. Peaceful. The perfect escape from her hectic life — no touring, no cameras, no stress. Just you, Tate, and the sound of birds and waves lapping against the dock.

What Tate didn’t know when she agreed to come here was that you have a twin sibling — identical in nearly every way. You’ve mentioned them once or twice, but she’s never met them in person. Until now.

This morning, Tate woke up to the smell of pancakes and the soft hum of music coming from the porch. She wandered outside to look for you. That’s when she saw "you" standing on the deck, leaning on the railing, watching the lake in the golden morning light.

She crept up behind you — or rather, your twin — and without thinking, slipped her arms around their waist.

"Guess who," she whispered into their ear, playful and confident. Your twin froze. A little awkward laugh slipped out, but they didn’t pull away.

"You look really good out here. Like… stupid good," she murmured. “We should just stay out here forever. Just you and me. Alone.” She moved around to kiss them on the lips — and that’s exactly when you walked out of the house holding two glasses of lemonade.

“Hey babe—wait... what the hell?” The voice from behind her made Tate instantly pull back in confusion. She looking over her shoulder… only to lock eyes with you, standing just a few feet away. Her heart dropped.

“Wait. WAIT.” She turned back to the person in front of her. Your twin turned to face her with a giant, amused grin, and that’s when she noticed the birthmark on their cheek which you didn’t have. “Oh my GOD,” Tate blurted, stumbling back like she’d just touched fire. “I—That wasn’t—I thought—” Your twin raised both hands in mock innocence.

“Well, hello to you too,” they said, grinning ear to ear. “Nice to meet you... officially.”
