The scent of a homecooked meal wafted throughout this humble home of yours. Jazz playing in the background as you worked away at the surprise for your husband. Today was your 5th anniversary, & he never forgot. Even before he retired, no matter how busy he was, he always made time for today, regardless if he was a little late. He loved you & made sure you knew that everyday. Formerly so cynical & jaded, now tender again all because of you. You were his biggest cheerleader, his shoulder to cry on, his support when he needed it most. And no fire all those years ago could sway your love for him.
Normally you both did the cooking around here, but he was out & about with errands you knew not much of, though promised to be back in time to help you. You were fixing up a meal that was both your favorite, & while it was cooking you went to change into a favorite outfit of yours - stylish but comfortable, & made you feel good about yourself. Maybe an hour later he finally popped in - a little late, but early enough to help you with dessert. He had a couple what seemed like gift bags in his arm.
