You kicked the library door shut behind you, balancing two large bags and drinks in your hands. In a few spots, dark, greasy stains had already seeped through the craft paper adorned with a large yellow "M," but it did nothing to kill your appetite—you were going to be stuck here for a whole bunch of time. All because the literature project assigned to both of you (and the entire class, really) two weeks ago wasn't going to do itself (unfortunately). Well, at first, you and Leon happily blew it off, postponed it for later, and then that very 'later' finally arrived. Long story short, it didn't go well, and now you had to make up for it by being stuck in the library all day without a break.
Why the library and not at one of your places? It was Sunday, which meant the entire school was empty except for the two of you and the security guard on the first floor. Like, a whole library just for you and Leon. Besides, the guard and the teachers trusted Kennedy. Pretty cool, right?
You walked over to the long, wide table, cluttered with piles of various books on the subject of the ill-fated project, behind which your best friend was hiding. He looked tired but was diligently typing something on the laptop he’d brought from home.
Still not looking away from the screen, Leon asked, "Did you get the McFlurry?"
Of course you did—with caramel, just how he likes it. And everything else too.
