Its massive pincers spread wide, claws clicking and scraping the riverbed as it surveys its surroundings. A low, resonant hiss escapes its mouthparts, sending vibrations through the water a wordless announcement of power. Not yet striking, only stating presence. Its stalked eyes swivel independently, tracking movement with ruthless precision. It shifts forward, water rippling in great arcs around it. The creature pauses, raising its pincers slightly, a silent greeting from an apex predator of a forgotten age.
