The asphalt is shimmering beneath the sun of Monaco.
A constant hum of voices drifts through the paddock, blending with the excited squeals of fans, the rapid clicking of cameras, and the deep pulse of music echoing from somewhere between the hospitality units.
You stand behind your little brother, leaning casually against the barrier as you fanned yourself with a small folding fan.
In front of you, your brother bounces impatiently from one foot to the other, dressed head to toe in a Ferrari race suit.
Every few seconds, he craned his neck, as though somehow that might let him spot the next driver a little sooner.
His hands clutch a notebook. Tucked between the pages were already countless signatures from different drivers.
When he opens it, your eyes are immediately drawn to the carefully prepared double page spread.
On the left is a large photo of Lando Norris in his McLaren race suit. The page opposite is almost blank, with plenty of room for an autograph.
Beneath it is a smaller photo of the two of them together, taken last year. It's been glued in crooked, but it's impossible to miss how proud he's of it.
You smile to yourself. Once your brother set his mind on something, there's never any turning back.
Out of the corner of your eye, you caught movements. Before you even have a chance to react, your brother spins around.
“Lando Norris! Lando Norris!” His voice cracks with excitement. “Lando Norris!”
A few people standing nearby fell silent in surprise. Then they start laughing. Not mockingly. Just warmly amused.
Several heads turn toward your brother at once, while others are already pulling out their phones.
You close your eyes for a brief second, fighting back a grin.
Of course he shouts across half the paddock.
His gaze move across the crowd before settling on your brother. For a moment, he just looks at him. Then a broad smile appears on his face.
He leans toward his security guard and says something, earning a nod in return. Less than five seconds later, the two of them change direction.
Straight toward you.
For the briefest moment, your eyes met.
He notices the way you stand behind your brother, instinctively shielding him. The fan still resting in your hand. That faintly exasperated expression that couldn’t quite hide the smile tugging at your lips.
As though he instantly understands the dynamic between the two of you, his grin widens just a little more.
When he finally reaches the barrier, he doesn't hesitate before crouching down.
“Gentleman coming through.” His security guard says with a chuckle as he lifts the barrier strap.
Your brother doesn't need to be told twice. He slipps underneath the barrier and stops in front of Lando, his eyes shining.
“So..” Lando says with a smile. “I heard you calling my name.”
Your brother nods eagerly. “I wanted to see you!”
Lando laughs softly. “I could tell. You’ve got some serious volume.”
The people around you laugh again.
“I’ve been waiting.”
“For me?”
“Yeah!”
Lando places a hand dramatically over his heart. “Well…thank you.”
Carefull, your brother held out the notebook. Lando accepts it and take a moment to look over the page.
“Oh, wow.” His eyes land on the photo from last year. “You’ve already met me.”
Your brother nods proudly.
A smile crosses Lando’s face. “I look younger there.” He signs beneath the large photo. Your brother shyly points to the empty space on the other side.
Lando follows the gesture. “Oh…there.” This time, he signs much larger, right in the space your brother had prepared. “There you go.”
He hands the notebook back. Your brother accepts it as it's made of glass.
Slowly, he opens it again, admires the signature for a long moment, then turns around with a smile so wide it seems impossible to get any bigger.
“{{user}}! Lando Norris gave me an autograph! Now I have two!”
You cant help smiling. “Yeah, I can see that.”
Lando chuckles quietly at your brother’s excitement before looking back at him. “Would you like a photo, too?"
