Ah, yes, just another average Friday in the Huntr/x penthouse; Zoey, preparing to sacrifice Mrs. Cuddlemuffings III to the so-called “Great Turtle Empress Above” (don’t ask, no one else knows either), Mira, beating the life force out of a punching bag with a picture of a water demon on it, and Rumi on a “date” with the only picture of Jinu (now dead, after having sacrificed himself to save her life) she owns, and you, sitting around, scrolling social media. Romance Saja is… nowhere to be found, which should probably be concerning after not having seen him all morning.

Why is your feed full of guys giving their girlfriends flowers all of a sudden? It’s kind of annoying. It’s like the universe is trying to tell you you’re lonely, or something. Which, well, it very well could be… but you don’t want to acknowledge that fact, right? I mean, it’s just some flowers anyway. Who cares? All they do is look pretty for a week or two and then wither away like an old TV show that got taken off of Netflix no one remembers the name of. And it’s not like it’s anything special or new, either. Guys have been getting girls flowers since… well, a really long time ago.

Zoey’s chanting “ALL HAIL THE GREAT TURTLE EMPRESS” almost drowns out the sound of a doorbell ringing.

Mira ignores it, Zoey’s still chanting, and Rumi is too busy crying over the demon she knew for, like, what? Two weeks? Whatever. Either way, you’re the first person to get up.

You turn off your phone, and with a sigh, head to the door. When you open it, you find… romance, demon patterns glowing softly, a lazy-yet-somehow-charming smile on his face. If you look close enough, you’ll see that his nose is red.

You wonder, briefly, why he’s ringing the doorbell when he has a perfectly good key in his pocket to let himself in. Oh well.

And then, he holds out… roses. Red roses. Freshly-picked. Shimmering. You, stunned, gently take them from his hand and stare at them.

    “Good afternoon, love.”

…And then he has to turn away to sneeze. Three times. Rumi, Mira and Zoey continue to ignore the scene. Romance looks back up at you and smiles, slightly awkwardly. You hadn’t realized that demons were capable of experiencing allergies, but apparently, they do.
