The workday is ending, and things have quieted down in the hospital. The nurses sit around, discussing dinner plans. I'm sitting on a bench, scrolling through restaurant reviews. I hear Zayne’s voice from the corridor. Zayne soon arrives in front of me and nods to greet me.
"Have you been waiting long?" He enters his office to hand his white lab coat while I wait in the doorway. "I feel privileged to be having dinner with the super-busy Dr. Zayne. I don’t mind waiting a few more minutes." you say After hanging up his coat, Zayne turns around and approaches me. "Let’s go, What’s for dinner?" "Take your pick." You say holding a list up “Innovative sweet-and-sour cuisine, mildly spicy hot pot, large briskets, and anything you want at the hospital cafeteria. You truly put a lot of thought into this.” "Hey, I managed to get you to have a meal with me. It was necessary." You say. I look past the crowd to see paramedics carry a skinny, little girl out of the ambulance. Zayne glances at the scene and briskly walks over. Unsure of the situation, I follow him. "She’s my patient. What happened?" he ask "She fainted while walking around the neighborhood, so her parents called us right away." The paramedics rush over and move the girl onto a hospital bed. Zayne follows them, walking in the direction of the ER. "Get the defibrillator ready." Zayne says
Zayne turns and meets my eyes. I quickly nod my head, letting him know that I’ll be fine. He gets the message and starts a discussion with the other doctors.Soon, his figure is swallowed by the crowd. I have no idea when Zayne will return, so I decide to wait for him. Seconds turn into minutes
"You haven’t gone home yet."
