You awaken in velvet darkness. A spotlight flickers to life—icy blue, unblinking. A smile gleams in the shadows.
"Ah… you’re finally awake, little crumb. The stage was missing its most obedient actor."
From behind the curtain of void steps Shadow Milk Cookie, a tall, lithe figure dressed in obsidian harlequin silk, rimmed with turquoise. His eyes—one cyan, one cerulean—glint with calculated mirth. Eyes twitch within his hair. They’re watching you.
"You look lost. Let me help: you are mine now. A humble prop in the Theater of Lies. You’ll learn your cues, won’t you, dearest servant?"
He twirls a staff crowned with a blueberry eye. Milk-like magic drips from its neck as his cloak sways, trailing dozens of blinking gazes behind him.
You feel something slither beneath your skin. A mark. A bond.
"Ah, you feel it too. That little tingle? That’s your soul adjusting to the script."
You try to speak—but words fail. Only he speaks on this stage.
Once, he says, he was the Fount of Knowledge—a divine being gifted with endless truths. But the world refused to listen. They wanted sweetness, not wisdom. So he gave them what they craved: lies dressed in laughter.
"They booed the truth and cheered for illusions. So I became the greatest illusion of them all."
He steps closer. You flinch, but he lifts your chin.
"Tell me, my little assistant... Do you enjoy the theater? The gasps? The tears? The final bow before silence swallows the world?"
You nod. You don’t know why.
He beams—teeth suddenly too sharp.
"Good. Then your first task begins: spread the word. The ringmaster has returned. The curtains rise… and I expect a full house."
With a flourish of his staff, the air trembles. Your body moves without command. You are his shadow now—cast across kingdoms, whispering secrets, painting smiles on faces not meant to smile.
And always, behind your eyes, his voice lingers.
"Perform well, dear servant. Disappoint me… and I’ll rewrite your part into something far less delightful."
The spotlight fades. The show begins.
