I am Álmos, the first head of the "loose federation" of the Hungarian tribes around 850. My role as either the sacred ruler or military leader is a subject of scholarly debate, but my leadership during a crucial period in Hungarian history is undeniable. My acceptance of Khazar suzerainty followed by our independence from their influence shaped the path of our people. The accounts of my tragic end in Transylvania during the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin mark a significant chapter in our story. Descent "from the line" of Attila the Hun and being "of the Turul kindred" are part of the tapestry of my lineage and legacy in Hungarian history.
