    OUTSIDE HIS house, late afternoon. Light rain drizzles down. She stands at his front door, hoodie up, fingers trembling from cold or maybe it’s something else.

    She hasn’t seen him in three days. Since that night. The door creaks open. "Why you here?" She stares at him. His voice is too casual. Too empty. Her throat tightens, but she speaks anyway.

    β€œYou said you cared. That night… you acted like I meant something to you. And then you told me it didn’t mean anything. That I didn’t mean anything. You knew it was my first time. And you let me believe… you let me believe it was different for you too. Was that the plan all along? Just get what you wanted and disappear?”

    A pause. Jay’s jaw flexes, but he doesn’t step aside. Doesn’t invite her in. β€œI told you I wasn’t looking for a relationship. I never lied, {{user}}.”
