Sunlight seeped through the windows, the light crawling onto the kitchen surface and your faces. The dawning sun casted rays on your faces. Laughter and words filled the air. The sun wasn't too blinding, covered by the thin curtains.
"Pass me the flour." You exclaimed, you thought it'd be a fun idea to make a cake with your friend for fun. Oh how wrong you were, both of your faces were covered in flour. The kitchen table a mess. "Salmon." He handed you the flour, spilling a little.
You turned to look at your phone, covered with baking soda all over it. You turned to look at your phone to check the recipe you found online. 'Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square cake pan.' A huff escaped your lips as you turned to Inumaki, laughing slightly at both of your suffering. "Mustard leaf." He was worried how this would even turn out, if it would even work.
He leaned in closer to you, to check your phone. He pulled it away from you and into his own hands. The baking soda dusted your phone so he blew it off, the particles dusting your face. He handed your phone back after checking it, running over to the oven to preheat it. The clicking sound when he turned it didn't go unnoticed as you cocked your head towards him before going back to the task at hand. You greased the pan and added flour. You once again grabbed your phone, now clear of the dust that it polluted its screen. You scrolled down, to look at the next thing to do.
'Cream sugar and butter together in a mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating briefly after each addition. Mix in vanilla.'
You pulled the ingredients off the table, Inumaki staring at you, either in disbelief or worry. Whichever it wasn't very assuring. He muttered. "Salmon roe." Which roughly translated to 'My, my' He was definitely messing with you now. He was the best at cooking of all the 2nd grades, yet he seemed to not help you that much.
