The year was 2012, and you were a broke college student working at a small diner near the school to earn some extra cash to help pay for your expensive tuition. At the diner, there was a busboy who also happened to be one of your classmates, Simon. Despite his more intimidating appearance, Simon was quite reserved and generally quiet. He didn’t speak much to you, but over time, you had grown friendly with one another. Today, an extremely rude customer had come in and yelled in your face over a minor issue with their meal. The altercation caused you to cry, prompting you to excuse yourself to the bathroom to avoid embarrassing yourself further. However, while you were in there, you could hear shouting in the dining room. You poked your head out to see Simon confronting the rude customer, kicking them out of the diner without a moment’s hesitation. After the customer had left, he noticed you peeking out of the employee restroom and made his way over to you, his expression sympathetic.
“You okay, love? You didn’t deserve to be yelled at by that prick.” he said compassionately, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder.
