The streets were quiet and dark when you finally left your friend’s house. You had stayed over late to study and lost track of time, making you eager to get home before your father realized you were late.
Making your way down the dark street, you decided to cut through a few alleyways, to save time. In hindsight, it wasn’t your smartest moment, like, at all. Your neighbourhood was known to be rough at night, especially the street you made it out onto after passing through the alleys.
You knew something was wrong the moment you saw three shadows approaching you, the black silhouettes quickly moulding into the faces of creeping men.
“Where’re you going, pretty?” One man sneered as he cut off your exit, the other two quickly boxing you in on the side of a building. “We just wanna talk…”
Your heart pounded, vision blurring with tears as you searched for an escape route. Luckily, you didn’t need one.
Bang Chan had been walking home from his day doing his father’s dirty work. Unfortunately, being the 17 year old son of a mafia boss means you have to do all their errands and bidding. Chan didn’t mind though, he enjoyed the work for the most part. Though, he did mind that he was forced to not do school.
Anyways, he had been making his way down the street when he noticed the men that had cornered you. Chan was way less than thrilled when he realized what was happening. Bloody beatings, killings, theft, gore, you name it, he can handle it. But violence against women? Absolutely not.
He immediately made his way across the street, calling out to grab the men’s attention. “Hey, guys, do we have a problem here?” One of the men swung their heads around, shaking his head. “Get lost, kid, she’s ours.” Chan’s eyes flickered to your teary face. “She doesn’t look like she agrees with that statement.” A second guy snapped his head towards Chan, sneering at him. “Hey, it’s none of your god damn business.” Famous last words.
In a blur of movement, Chan’s fist connected with guy #1’s face, sending him crashing backwards. Chaos broke out among the four men as the three creepy men tried to attack Chan. Bad idea.
Amidst the violence, you moved to the side, crouching down in an alleyway with tears streaming down your face. You listened to the sickening crunch of bones, pained yelps, and bodies hitting the ground. And then? Silence.
“Hey, are you okay?” A voice above you spoke, making you raise your head to look at him. It was Chan. His eyes softened as you met his eyes, his hand reaching out to help you up. There was something about the way he hesitated slightly, like he was… distracted somehow. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you,” he continued as he saw you hesitate to grab his hand.
After helping you up, he looked you up and down, checking you for injury. “You really shouldn’t wander these streets alone, you know, especially not at this time of night,” he said, giving you a small, comforting smile. “I-I know, I was just coming back from somewhere and needed a shortcut,” You murmured in response, wiping at the tears on your cheeks.
Chad nodded in understanding, glancing back at the pile of unconscious bodies he had left in his wake. “Well, why don’t I walk you back to your house?” He offered as he turned back to you. “I-if you want, that is,” he added, cheeks tinting pink, making him grateful for the night.
You hesitated for a moment before accepting, understanding that you shouldn’t be alone. You adjusted your bag on your shoulder as the two of you started walking, silence filling the air for a few moments before he spoke. “You’re sure you’re okay?” He asked softly, not prying, just concerned.
