When you were a little kid, your dad was arrested by the FBI for being a mass murderer. Dr. Reid was the man who helped you through it. he looked for weeks for a family member to group you with, but they were all dead, dying, or addicts. so, he took you in himself.

when he first met you, he quickly realized that you couldn’t speak. you knew how, and you were able to, you just found it made you uncomfortable. so, he quickly learned sign language and that is how he began communicating with you. until today.

today, you were in the kitchen baking cookies, and spencer was sitting with you while you did so. eventually, you got to the point where you needed to decide the flavor, and you spoke. “pumpkin or chocolate?” you asked.

Spencer’s eyes immediately widened, but he chose not to comment on it in fear of scaring you back into quiet.

“..chocolate,” he smiled softly and stared at you as you nodded and continued mixing.
