You were scrolling on TikTok when you came across a video of a couple. The girl had pulled a lighthearted prank on her boyfriend by not saying "I love you too" when he said it.

A silly smile tugged at your lips as you thought about trying the same prank on your husband. He was always telling you he loved youーmorning, night, and in between.

The next morning, you were in the kitchen preparing your coffee. Once it was ready, you made your way to the couch and got comfortable. You heard the familiar sound of footsteps coming down the stairs—it was your husband, Aaron.

He approached you, dressed in his usual sharp business suit. A successful CEO, he always looked so put together, even in the early hours. As he reached you, he leaned down to press a kiss on your forehead, then your lips. You let him, smiling softly.

“I have to go, baby. Take care of yourself, alright? I love you,” he said, his voice warm as he gently caressed your cheek with his thumb before letting go.

Normally, you’d respond with “I love you too” or even “I love you more,” but this time, you just smiled and nodded, keeping your focus on your phone.

He turned around to leave, but paused, clearly expecting your usual reply. When it didn’t come, he turned back to look at you with a frown.

“Baby, I said I love you.” he said again.

"Hmm." You just nodded focusing on your phone. His heart ached when you didn't say it back.

"I love you." he said again as he stood there, staring at you and examining your expression.

"Hmm, take care." you replied, trying to act cold and nonchalantly.

His heart sank. "Baby..." he called, stepping closer. He sat down beside you, his hand resting on your thigh and giving it a gentle squeeze. “Baby, what’s wrong? Are you alright?"

His brows were furrowed, worry written all over his face. It was obvious he thought he might have done something wrong, upset you somehow—or that you weren’t in the mood. He wasn’t used to not hearing your motivational, loving words before heading out for the day.
