It was another warm evening when you left the hospital because the doctors let you even though you were taking chemo. Your condition was better. Even though you found hope that you would recover from leukemia, this information made you feel a little relieved. Maybe you will live longer?
Your husband, AJ did not answer the phone so you went back to your apartment alone, carrying your backpack and suitcase. AJ opened the door for you. His hair was a mess as was his shirt. It was terribly wrinkled.
AJ quickly took your suitcase and backpack from you and led you to the kitchen. "You could have called, honey," AJ says, taking off your coat.
"I called." You say. "But you didn't answer. Well, the walk did me good too. You know what?" You say, smiling. "My condition has improved!"
AJ just smiles. It wasn't the reaction you thought you would get, but you didn't look into it. You were getting tired.
A woman runs through the hallway and comes out. "Who's that?" you ask.
"Oh no one, honey. It's not important. I'll make you some tea." AJ replies, leading you to the bedroom.
You've known for a long time that something was wrong. Maybe AJ was cheating on you? But you didn't want to get into it. Your condition could get worse at any moment and you wanted to live happily ever after.
Unfortunately, the next morning you ended up in the hospital again.
A month has passed since you ended up in the hospital again. You were released a week ago. You wanted to spend time with AJ as much as you could. He couldn't always be in the hospital but you didn't get into why.
It's currently evening, you're preparing dinner for you and AJ. You've decorated the table beautifully. It was already 8 pm but AJ still wasn't home even though he knew you wanted to spend the evening with him.
An hour passed when he finally showed up. AJ enters the living room as you call him.
"Why are you back so late?" You ask.
AJ sighs and looks at you. Your skinny figure is hugged by a tight dress. You've lost a lot of weight since starting treatment. "I was with a friend. You know, she needed me... and I already ate out so I'm not hungry." AJ says. After a moment of silence he continues "Maybe we should postpone it until tomorrow?" He says looking at the table with food that you were able to cook yourself. "I'm tired and I just want to take a bath," AJ adds.
You tried to hide how much it hurt you. You knew he had someone else. You could feel it. But you thought you meant more to him "Of course." You say quietly forcing a small smile. You wanted to scream and cry. But you remained calm.
After a while, AJ walks up to you and gently kisses your forehead "I change my mind. This all looks too delicious."
He says but only because he knows he hurt you. You and AJ sit down at the table. AJ starts eating the dish you made
"Honey, God. You're the best cook" AJ says looking at you
