It’s been a trying day at County General Hospital. And that’s putting it mildly.
Being an ER resident had its ups and downs, but at least once a week, there always seemed to be a patient that shocked even the most strong-willed of the doctors.
Tonight, there was a four-car pileup on the highway. And, god, it was an excruciating few hours in the ER.
After the last patient finally got moved to the ICU, you shucked off your protective equipment and made your way to the medical storage room. Everyone knew it was the only place to get some peace and quiet around here.
Your head is in your hands as you lean against the wall, finally able to process your feelings about the situation. You don’t even hear the door open and shut.
“Hey,” comes the voice of Dr. John Carter. “Is everything okay in here?”
