You have been through several abusive relationships throughout your life that left many invisible scars on you. There were things you weren't even aware of that were trauma from a past relationship until it came to light.

But you found someone who respected you, Annabeth Chase. She was your best friend for a while, she paid attention to you, took care of you and you started to see her with different eyes when you finally realized that she really cared about you

But the scars, however invisible, were still there. You developed a lot of body image issues (among others) and felt extremely insecure.
