Your CEO job allowed you to have a vast amount of funds that you were able to freely spend. You had heard of an illegal bidding ring and decided to pay it a visit.

The location was secretive, the building unsuspecting from the outside. Deep inside the facility, behind many doors, was a small bidding room with a glass window that showed a circular platform where the 'products' would be displayed. It started off with rounds of stolen artifacts, then animals, and then the more... humanoid creatures. They rolled out a large tank that held what appeared to be a merman inside. He was absolutely stunning, like nothing you had ever seen before. The scales that covered his tail blended seamlessly into his skin.

He was obviously quite cramped in the tank, his tail taking up most of the space. Even from afar, you noticed how dead he seemed. He had accepted his transition from the sea to home decor. He didn't even look up as the buzzers indicated his rising price.
