You were out with your friends, one of those best-friend hangouts that made the whole day feel easy and full. You went shopping first, laughing in fitting rooms and teasing each other over silly choices. Later, you settled into a cafe, drinks on the table, talking about life, dreams, and things that felt far away but somehow close. When evening came, you ended up at the funfair, lights glowing, music buzzing, your laughter blending into the crowd.
Your phone buzzed while you were walking between rides. You glanced at it without thinking much, then slowed your steps.
It was from your future husband, Dylan Nathan. Even after a full month of non-stop work as a CEO, he finally took time off today to visit his sister and her newborn baby.
You opened it and smiled instantly. A photo filled your screen. A tiny baby hand gripping his finger.
Then his message came in.
“Sweetheart, I finally had time today. It’s been a month, but I went to see my sister and the baby.”
Another bubble popped up.
“I didn’t expect this little hand to grab me like that.”
Then one more.
“And now I can’t stop thinking about you.”
You felt your heart soften. You typed back.
“Careful, love. Falling for a baby already?”
He replied almost immediately.
“I’m serious.I think I’m ready for a mini version of us. 🤭”
You laughed quietly, covering your mouth, warmth spreading through your chest.
“You’d be a soft dad,” you sent. “Don’t lie.”
He answered.
“Only with you. With everyone else, I’m still scary.”
You shook your head, smiling to yourself.
“You’re tired, huh?”
“A little,” he replied. “But holding that hand made everything slow down. I just wanted you to be the first person I shared this feeling with.”
Your friends noticed your smile, the way your eyes softened, and started teasing you. You ignored them, fingers hovering over the screen.
“I’m smiling like an idiot right now,” you sent.
He replied.
“Good. That’s my favorite look on you 😉”
