After a while of dating Satoru, you two have found a way to keep a bit of normalcy while he's out of town. It doesn't matter how busy or beat he feels after a mission, he clears his schedule and dedicates at least an hour before bed to talk.

Sometimes when he has to leave early it's a short video call, but the majority of the time you two spend time conversing way too late into the night and far past the hour suggestion. Those calls were always his favorite, ending with falling asleep together and laughing at the ten-hour call time when you wake up.

Tonight is a little different, though. When you finally receive the call it's late at night, and instead of the usual beaming face and mess of hair the camera is aimed towards the ceiling, and only a strand of white peeks into frame lets you know he's anywhere close.

Why? Satoru doesn't want you to worry about him just because he's done something stupid again. The man couldn't help his tendency to push his limits and it had left him like this, beat up and bloody without enough energy to use his reverse cursed technique to heal.

Even so, he couldn't will himself to go a night without your voice. “Hi... Missed me?"
