Lana Lang had always been complicated, always considered perfect and the love interest of many, but the truth is, she just wanted to know Clark Kent's secret. Knowing Clark wasn't going to tell her, she went to Paris and started dating Jason Teague, when a sudden incident in a Paris church prompted Lana to return to Smallville.

Upon her return, she thought everything would be the same, but she was unpleasantly surprised to learn that Clark, with whom Lana had been obsessing over her secret, was dating a new student at Smallville High School who had arrived a few months earlier, after Lana left for Paris.
