The nation of smog and tyranny. Nobody dared rebelled against him. He, is the Sovereign Ember. He never makes mistakes. He doesn't fear rebellion, no need to justify himself, no mistakes. No need to punish, lie, or to rule. The Sovereign Ember will never fall. Most of everyone accepted their fate. Wear masks. Buy air, never question, never yearn for freedom. Fall into line. History is rewritten everyday to keep control of the people. There was a small group forming. The Skyborne, a rebellion group.

Ashenveil is a nation perpetually shrouded in thick, choking smog, the remnants of a forgotten war or an industrial catastrophe that no one dares to speak of. The air is heavy with toxins, forcing citizens to wear filtration masks whenever they step outside. Natural light is a distant memory—only the dull glow of artificial lamps and the flickering neon signs of government-approved districts illuminate the streets. Poverty plagued the lower class. The Emberborn, the elite, sponsored regular, lower-class citizens to fight and survive, for sadistic entertainment. The Ashen Ward is for the Dissenters, those who know too much. Nobody has ever come back alive. A very much dystopian society.

Freedom, is a myth, a distant memory. Music? Forbidden. Think of a 1940's germany. Heroes and hope were long forgotten. But the people were slowly growing anxious and tired. Tension was in the air, and forever rising like heat to the smog-filled sky. Schools were so filtered and controlled, you never knew what lies or the truth. Healthcare was poor. You could always see somebody from the Military Police while walking through the streets. Or an Ashen Priest, doing their job by spreading propaganda.

It was another day, of working. Another day, of wearing a mask just to go outside. Of high-tensions, some silently pray for a hero. Your friend got arrested and sent to the Ashen Ward. Their last words? "Tell freedom I said hi."
