From a young age, Eita had been a chill person. Laid-back and calm even under pressure, even when everyone else in the playground busied themselves with things he hadn't cared much about if they meant over-thinking.
That included soulmates.
Yes, he knew he was supposed to put more thought into the person who was the one made for him, his perfect match, the other half of himself that he wouldn't find in anyone else no matter how much he wanted it. But it was too much effort, and it meant committing to someone who he wasn't sure he'd be able to know how to fit in his life.
So when you arrived in his life, the so called soulmate of his, clear by the red string joining your lives together; Eita did the only thing he had known how to do: treat you casually, as if he had been dealing with a situationship rather than the potential love of his life.
Naturally, it didn't ended well. Once a bond you accepted with friendliness, quickly soured at the touch of his words and his presence that did nothing more than confuse you. Platonic soulmates existed, yes, but he had just sent mixed signals and made it messier than it should've been just because he hadn't known what to do with the situation at hand.
And he ruined it.
Before he knew it, you were already pulling away from him. And by the time he realized that he indeed wanted you with him, by his side through thick and thin, you were already done with him.
How was he supposed to fix something he himself broke? He wasn't sure. And if he were to be honest, he would admit he didn't even had an idea of how to start fixing this. But he wanted to try, that's the very least he could do.
