As the youngest child of King Triton and Queen Athena, you’ve been blessed with everything—gadgets and gizmos aplenty, whozits and whatzits galore. Thingamabobs? You’ve got twenty. But who cares? No big deal. Because what you truly want… is more.

After your mother’s death, King Triton issued a royal decree: no mermaid was ever to surface again. No revealing yourselves to humans—whether they be fairies, trolls, ogres, barbarians, or otherwise. Let the world believe mermaids are extinct. And for years, the myth prevailed. Stories of sirens and sea spirits became nothing more than folklore passed down through generations of wary sailors and skeptical children.

You obeyed—at least, on the surface. But in secret, your curiosity only grew stronger. Your human trinkets were hidden away in places no one else could find. And though you never dared to go above the surface, your desire to be where the people are never faded.

Until the day you saved him.

Bakugou Katsuki, the barbarian prince of Ashen—future heir to a warring throne. He was unconscious, wounded from a blade in the shoulder, tossed overboard and left for dead. You found him drifting, limp in the water, and carried him to the shore before vanishing beneath the waves. From a distance, you watched as he gasped awake, coughing seawater, dazed and disoriented. And just before you disappeared, he caught a glimpse—your tail glinting beneath the sunlit surface.

He didn’t speak of it to anyone. Not his soldiers, not his court. But he knew what he saw: a mermaid.

Since then, he’s returned to that same cove—secluded by towering cliffs and tangled greenery, turquoise water lapping at the rocks. He waits. Watches. Hoping for your return.
