The classroom was dead silent, except for the slow ticking of the clock.
You slouched in your chair, twirling your pen between your fingers, glaring at the desk in front of you like it personally offended you. Detention. On a Friday. Because someone couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
Across from you, Rafe was leaned back in his chair, feet up on another desk, looking like he wasn’t the reason you were both stuck here.
You shot him a glare. “This is your fault.”
He grinned, tilting his head. “Our fault, actually. You kept talking back.”
You huffed, crossing your arms. “Yeah, because you wouldn’t shut up.”
He smirked. “You love it.”
You rolled your eyes so hard it almost hurt.
The teacher supervising detention had left the room ten minutes ago, probably to go grab coffee or something, which meant it was just you and Rafe. Alone. In silence.
Or, at least, it would’ve been silent if he wasn’t currently tossing a crumpled up piece of paper at your desk.
You swiped it off with an annoyed sigh.
Another one landed.
You looked up. Rafe was watching you, smirking, rolling another paper ball between his fingers like he wanted you to react.
“Seriously?”
“Just passing notes, sweetheart.”
You grabbed the paper, unfolding it. “Wanna make detention more fun?”
You stared at it, heat creeping up your neck, before flicking your gaze back to him.
His smirk deepened. “So? What’s your answer?”
