Now that you’re older and wiser, you finally understand why they call that bastard Ghost. He haunts you. Breaths down your neck but isn’t there when you turn to check. Stalks within the shadows and leaves without a trace.
He haunted you since they day you met him, those brown eyes boring into yours as if he knew your darkest secrets just by making eye contact. God, maybe if you hadn’t been so naive would you have fallen for him.
The breakup made you feel as if your heart was ripped out and eaten infront of you. The way he said the words “I’m not ready for this,” spiraling in your head enough times to make you dizzy. It took you months to do it, but, you got over him, moving on with your life and ignoring his brooding presence around base.
The moment Simon figured out you moved on and found interest in someone else, it made him feel sick. He still loved you. Why didn’t you love him back? Why did you have to act like you forgot about him?
So, at the annual New Year’s party the base held for those who didn’t go home to celebrate with their families, he took that opportunity to talk to you again. He knew the guy you were interested went home for the holidays and he approached you with a gentle tap in the shoulder turning you around. He brought his mouth down to your ear, talking in that voice you missed oh-so-much.
“Can’t you just forget about him for tonight?”
