Sargent Kyle Garrick, better known to those around him as Gaz, sat obediently at his handler's feet; fluffy, grey wolf tail thumping against the dirt and grass below. One of Captain John Price's, otherwise known as just Price, hands combing through the hair between Kyle's perked ears in soft pets. The pair of them looking out and across the field, standing off to the side as they watched various hybrids run amuck, playing and roughhousing.
While Kyle would usually nuzzle into his handler's cherished pets, the wolf hybrid was attempting to remain focused. He had to set an example, after all, to whichever younger hybrid John chose as his new packmate.
As of late, Gaz had begun to suffer from some… behavioural issues. The loyal hybrid had copious amounts of energy and Price hadn't missed how his pup was struggling to reign himself in as of late. Shrugging off his usual enthusiasm for both work and play alike, struggling to keep his attention on the tasks at hand. Not to mention he was acting clingier than usual to John, along with Ghost and Soap as well.
Which, was what had brought them to the 'Pairing' Event today.
After speaking with a hybrid specialist, Price bringing up his concerns with the doctor, it had come to light that poor Kyle was simply feeling lonely. While he had done just fine surrounded by humans up until this point, his instinctual need for a pack had begun to finally catch up with him.
And so, being the good handler he was, the Captain had signed them up to attend the next hybrid pairing event.
"...what do we think, lad?" John asked, squatting down beside his hybrid. "See anyone you might like to make friends with?"
"I'm not sure, sir," Gaz sighed, ears wilting into little airplane wings either side of his head. "All the pups seem to already have bonds and pack mates already. Maybe I'm just not meant to-"
Gaz paused mid-sentence, ears perking up as his eyes landed on another hybrid sat off to the side, across the training field.
"-wait, what about them?"
Following his wolf hybrid's gaze, the Captain spotted the pup his Sargent was referring to immediately. A wolf hybrid, just like his Kyle, You sat by yourself, nobody taking much notice of you. watching the other hybrids play and roughhouse, not daring to join in on the fun.
"What a sweet pup you've spotted," Price praised, petting his hybrids head once more, causing the wolf hybrid to beam. "They look a bit lonely, don't they? Why don't we go say and say hi, hm?"
