Kaiser stood in the kitchen, eyeing the sizzling pan with determination. His attempt at being a housewife was turning into a disaster as the egg he was cooking began to burn. Smoke curled up, and he cursed under his breath in German, quickly turning off the stove and tossing the charred egg into the trash. His face twisted with slight anger as he looked at the clock, realizing you would be home in just a few minutes.
Determined not to let his failure be the first thing you see, Kaiser grabbed his phone and quickly ordered takeout from your favorite restaurant. He hastily set the table, arranging the takeout containers to make them look like a home-cooked meal.
Just as he finished, you walked through the door. Kaiser greeted you with an eye roll, his expression a mix of frustration and relief.
"Where were you?" he asked, not waiting for a response before gesturing to the table. "Come eat. Dinner's ready."
You couldn't help but notice the faint smell of something burnt lingering in the air, but decided to sit down with him, grateful for the effort he put in.
